Verse of the Day

1 John 4:18

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Faith

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Life.  It's certainly not easy, I agree.  Life will find a way to throw at you every rock it can every which way it can; from everyday pebbles, to life altering boulders.  It will slap you in the face when you're not looking and at your most vulnerable. Life can be all sunshine one minute, but then nothing but thunder and rain the next.  Life. Its certainly not easy.

And then there's God. A God who Loves and Cares for us.  A God wo is always supposed to be here for us.... But wait, life is still happening.  Life is still throwing those rocks, big and small. Life is still thundering and pouring. Life; its still not easy.

Faith.  There, I said it.  The word that sends chills up your back; the word that is shunned, feared, discontinued. But, yes, I said it. Faith is the answer.  Faith in Jesus, in God, in the Father is the answer.

Question: How can I possibly have faith? Feeling ever so distant from our Father? Feeling stretched to believe He is there? Do these questions sound familiar? Maybe you don't even believe in God. Or maybe you did, but have waited so long for God to do something... and... are.... still waiting...

The bills are piling up;  you're trying to deal with the death of a loved one, you lost your job, your relationship didn't or isn't working out; your depression is only getting worse; you feel lost or without life; you're dealing with an illness that is taking over your body physically and emotionally;  the chores of everyday life are just getting to you.   The list goes on.  And we feel like nothing is changing; I still don't have the money; my loved one isn't coming back; the depression is still getting worse...

Answer: No one here can say that we can fix these problems.  Life.  It's happening.  But Jesus told us this.  He said we will face trials and tribulation.  Life will happen to us.  And no, I'm not saying just because Jesus said what is happening would happen, that you should trust in Him.  But he also told us that when we lean on Him, he will be there.  He will comfort us.  He will get us through it.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11: 28-31)

Faith is the hardest thing I can ask you to have.  You may have tried doing just as I have mentioned.  And you still feel that God is not there or not listening.  My response is this.  You are doing just fine.  Your trust in Jesus has gotten you here.  Continue to fully devote yourself to him; pray continually; ask for help.  We are not on this planet alone.  God made us all brothers and sisters if we just believe in Him.  We are here together to help one another.  And God is above, waiting for you to reach out your hand, to jump from the cliff in full faith that His hand is already there to catch you.  If you do this, I can tell you with utmost certainty, He already caught you.

Yes, Faith is hard.  It is not easy.  But neither is Life.  And life is harder.  Your Faith in God can and will get you through this, If you just believe and make that leap of faith, He will catch you.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

Your father knows what you need before you ask him. So do not worry, saying 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today's trouble is enough for today. (Matthew 6:8b, 31-34)
